FRENCH NATURAL PIGMENT:
THE "PASTEL" OR WOAD
For the company TERRE DE PASTEL I also created a light summer scarf, in silk and cotton with printed patterns in digital prints, with
different styles of drawings, all representing the little pastel flower.
"TERRE DE PASTEL" TOULOUSE
PASTEL is a blue pigment from a plant.
This blue colour made Toulouse rich and famous in the 15th century. It's time to rediscover this beautiful and natural blue!!!
This pigment is close to indigo, and the dyeing process is the same but the colour is a little more grey-blue.
Using fabrics dyed with natural dyes will be increasingly important to all of us today as we strive to create a more natural and healthier environment.
The company TERRE DE PASTEL started to develop products with pastel blue pigments and I had the opportunity in 2014 to create an artistic collection of handprints for Terre de Pastel, a growing company in Toulouse with a beautiful spa, a museum and a point of sale as well as several shops in the city centre of Toulouse.
We started our collaboration with a lot of joy and passion, to highlight this very beautiful blue pigment.
In this project, I used old pastel manuscripts to connect us with the rich history and bring it with us into the future.
I created the patterns. Then I printed the textiles with pastel pigment and then dyed them by hand. Today production is done in larger quantities with large machines.
Creating patterns from existing images is a real challenge for me.
I can help you create collections for museums or very personal gifts for your company, from your photos or other images.
