A SUPER TECHNIQUE TO PRINT ON SILK

For so many years I have struggled to find a way to print on silk with silkscreen without having the thickness of the paint, the structure of the patterns on the silk. Paint for fabric is like acrylic even diluted with water.

But the paint can't be too fluid either when being printed with the silkscreens.

My Japanese friend Asao Shimura, suggested I use KONYAKU powder that is very easy to mix with water. This gives you a transparent past. This paste can then be mixed INK in different colours.

When then washed, the ink rest and the konnyaku, being a support for the colour is washed away.

Konjac is a plant used to create food mostly, in Japan but can be bought in an artificial form on the internet quite cheap.

I will try to make a video to show you this technique very soon.
